Buddhists in Indonesia

From: "Cipto Handoyo" <x_skulliber@yahoo.com.sg>
Subject: Translating Dharma The Cat
HI David,   I am a member of a Buddhist organisation based in Indonesia and a regular reader of your web too.  Many people here have shown great interest in  your catoon, Dharma The Cat. However not many of them  can understand English very well. We get a suggestion  from our member to translate your cartoon into  Indonesian. So, I'm wandering if you will actually  allow us to translate it and post it in our web that  we are developing and our notice board in the temple.      I understand that some of the cartoon are rather  difficult to translate, so we will only translate some  of the cartoon that we have confidence in, in order to avoid any changes in meaning or wrong translation.  By the way, great job for the web. I spend hours   going through your web the first time I see it.

Therapeutic value, from America

From: donelle  cymfu@home.com

Thank you for your wonderful website.  I am currently exploring buddhist ideas in group therapy after an arduous journey of indulgence and insanity that seemed to have no meaning.  Your cartoons and commentaries add new light to a life filled with drudgery and pain.  Gracias.

From: Martin  martin13@btinternet.com

I just have to say that the 'Dharma the Cat' series is wonderful.  Your cartoons are pervaded by the messages and the teachings of Buddhism. Yet beyond these teachings there is an even more intrinsic aspect of Buddhism, realised through the enjoyment of 'Dharma the Cat'....smiling and laughter.

Subject: DISCOVERY & MEETING WITH A NEW CAT CALLED DHARMA !!!!

Hello, my name is Suzanne from cold & snowy but beautiful Québec city, Canada.  This morning I was looking for something humorous about cats to send to my sister in Phoenix, Arizona, through the internet.  And you have guessed, your cat Dharma & friends very gently introduced themselves to me.  Well, they fully captured my attention for quite a while.  They made me laugh, touched me & opened up my mind to learning lots of things.   WOW!, I am amazed how little I  know ,it never ceases to overpower me.There is so much out there....Anyway, I just thought I would say thank you for sharing this wisdom with me. MERCI & BONNE JOURNEE!  Suzanne Boyer

Subject: Re: Dharma The Cat update
Hello David-   I just got your e-mail.  You are so kind to answer,  I'm sure you are very busy.  ''Dharma" was wonderful as usual.  I am from a very Christian area just north of Boston, Ma. in the states.  I get a lot of funny looks when I tell people that I am Buddhist (my boss insists I belong to a cult).  I always send them to your site.  It is a wonderful way to explain things and put them at ease.  Bravo for your efforts at spreading the Dharma.  I wish you the best with your book.  I'm sure it will do well.
Is that your cat at the piano?  Such a talented family!
Thanks again for everything,  Krista

Japanese Zen/Martial Arts instructor in America

Subject: wonderful
I found your wonderful series and it really hits close to home for me. I
am a traditional Japanese martial arts instructor/student who has been
studying Soto Zen for 8-10 years.

The reason I write is to make a humble request: I write and edit a small  newsletter for our Minnesota karate organization. The newsletter is distributed to our  students here in Minnesota, and we also send copies to our schools in other  states to share with their students. I would love to be able to reprint your  strips, perhaps with your commentary, in our newsletter, together with the  link to the longer commentaries. I think it would be meaningful to all our  students, both junior and adult.  I don't have $ to send you, but I respect  your copyright and don't want to use your material without permission.

We, at the department of mental health in Massachusetts, are preparing to
put together the 3rd edition of a newsletter, "The Wise Times". It is a
DBT(dialectical behavioral therapy) newsletter for Western Massachusetts.
We would very much like to use a cartoon or two of yours in this and
future editions. Your humor and world view are much akin to ours-it's a great
fit.  Thanks in advance.
